Furiosa Comes to Streaming and Physical Formats Next Week

2 min read

It’s been a few months since Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga arrived as an impressive prequel to Fury Road, though not many people saw it. If you missed it or waited to watch it in the comfort of your home, good news: you can do so in just a few days.

Starting Tuesday, August 13, you can buy Furiosa in standard, Blu-Ray, and 4K UHD versions from various retailers at different prices. Then, a few days later on August 16, it will be available for streaming on Max, along with its 2015 predecessor and previous installments of the series. The Blu-Ray and UHD editions come with special features that delve into the making of the film and highlight main actors Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa) and Chris Hemsworth (Dementus). However, if you were hoping for something extra, such as a black-and-white viewing option like Fury Road, you won’t find it here.

The film didn’t have the best of luck
Furiosa premiered in May and, despite some pretty good reviews, it wasn’t a major financial success. (It wasn’t the only May release to meet this fate!) It grossed a total of $172.8 million, which is just over half of Fury Road’s $380.4 million, making it the second highest-grossing film in the franchise… after Fury Road. It’s curious how that works. Any potential follow-up, such as another film focused on Max Rockatansky (again played by Tom Hardy), seems to be stuck in the sand for now, but maybe George Miller has something in store once Warner Bros. can sort out their affairs.

Even if we don’t get another Max movie, or at least one from Miller’s “mad” mind, Furiosa is quite good and will hopefully find its audience now that it’s available at retailers and on streaming platforms in the coming days.
