We met Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles this afternoon to chat about his new movie apocalpytic allegory Blindness (we've seen it, we liked it). Meirelles was Oscar nominated for his favela drama City of God (people are calling it 'The Brazilian Godfather'), his next film, John Le Carre adap The Constant Gardener was three times nominated and won an Oscar for Rachel Weisz. We asked what was next for the vivacious visionary and this is what he told us:
“My next project will be a light comedy. I have a script but I’m still working on it. The name will probably be Twentysomething. It’s about young, intelligent, bright students. It’ll be shot in bad English because it’s a Japanese, a French, a Brazilian and a Canadian.”
The full interview with Fernando Meirelles will appear in a later issue of DVD & Blu-ray Review
