On Sale Now: New Name, New Look, Same Mag... Only Better!

The new look, new name DVD & Blu-ray Review issue 116 is now on sale! DVD Review has been up-scaled: the UK’s best-selling DVD and high-definition home entertainment magazine is now known as DVD & Blu-ray Review.

The definitive DVD bible since 1999 – when DVD was the bright, shining format of the future – we’ve taken the not-easy decision to modify our name to keep us synonymous with what we’ve always been about: the cutting edge of evolution and innovation in home entertainment and giving you the information and opinion you depend on to make those all-important disc and hardware choices.

We’ve taken a long, hard look at the magazine – at what we do brilliantly and what we could improve on – and have produced a magazine that is truly aligned with where home cinema is now, and will be in the future. We’ve not forgotten our bread and butter: DVD remains the dominant format in the market-place and remains central to DVD & Blu-ray Review’s ethos.

But as more and more people take advantage of the high-definition experience of Blu-ray, we’re here to provide indispensable advice to those looking to make step to hi-def as well as the biggest and best DVD and Blu-ray reviews guide to which movies, TV shows and music to buy on which format.

Starting with issue 116, DVD & Blu-ray Review brings you the very latest disc release, format and tech news, in-depth, behind-the-scenes features and more disc reviews than ever before by our team of expert reviewers.

Here’s a sneak peak of what to expect in issue 116:

FRONTROOM

DVD & Blu-ray Review’s front section brings you the very latest news on the biggest DVD and Blu-ray releases: this month’s Big News being Francis Ford Coppola’s digital restoration of all three Godfather movies with brand-new extras, released on DVD on 2 June.

FEATURES

DVD & Blu-ray Review continues to lead with the most informative and insightful features and more exclusive interview access of any DVD or hi-def magazine. In issue 116, we bring you a comprehensive celebration of the Indiana Jones phenomenon, including an interview with Harrison Ford, as Spielberg’s three previous movies come to Special Edition DVD on 22 May; we talk to JJ Abrams and director Matt Reeves about the year’s most anticipated blockbuster, Cloverfield; and in The Review Interview we converse with the incomparable Joel and Ethan Coen, discussing No Country For Old Men and their extraordinary career so far...

SELECT

DVD & Blu-ray Review’s already world-beating reviews section is now bigger and better than ever. It’s called SELECT because it’s all about your choice: all the films and shows available to buy and the formats they’re available on. We haven’t created a separate Blu-ray section and for a very good reason: it’s all about the entertainment, the extras and the presentation – the format you buy on is up to you.

This month we have 159 new DVD and Blu-ray discs reviewed, including Sweeney Todd, Charlie Wilson’s War, Balls Of Fury, The Good Night, The Lookout, Out Of The Blue, Walk Hard, AVP2, Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, I’m A Cyborg, Lust, Caution, Halloween: Uncut, PS I Love You, Bonnie And Clyde: Special Edition, The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen: Special Edition, O Lucky Man!: Special Edition, Predator, The Fly, Bionic Woman: The Complete Series, Entourage: Season 3, Part 2, American Dad: Volume 3, Prison Break: Season 3, ER: Season 11, Genesis: When In Rome 2007 – and much, much more...

TURN ON

Our indispensable and jargon-light technology section brings you honest and accessible group tests, with this issue focussing on HD Ready TVs under £900 and upscaling DVD players, plus our Turn On Tips guide to the often confusing world of entertainment, this month guiding you through everything you need to know about Blu-ray: the regions, the profiles, what the heck BD-J is and more...

Our reviews listing section is now more informative and interesting than ever, with all the best discs we’ve reviewed listed by genre plus and assortment of mind-blowing trivia to amuse and inform. We’re not just about dull, dry lists, you know...
