Win! Blade TV Series Boxsets

Another great DVD & Blu-ray Review competition! We are actually spoiling you. You're all going to become sulky, footstamping, little girls, who cry if you don't get your own way. And it'll be all our fault...

The ultimate badass vampire hunter is back, and he's got his own series. Blade: The Series is out now to buy on DVD. We've got four copies of the boxset to give away...

Mail Envy, Or, Look At All The Cool Stuff What We Get Sent...

In the DVD & Blu-ray Review offices we have a thing called 'Mail Envy'. (This is nothing to do with penis envy, I'd like to point out now...) Mail Envy raises its head when the post comes in in the morning. It's a bit like Christmas around here when the post arrives, only a kind of rubbish Christmas that we have to spend sat at a computer thinking, writing, and talking about DVDs. So, yeah, it's very like Christmas...

Usually the post is laden with exciting DVDs and Blu-rays, press releases, the odd screening invite, and sometimes, occasionally, an interesting shaped package. A 'present' if you like.

As the man who takes care of the reviews section (and my god, have you seen the reviews section in issue 116???It's a behemoth!) Deputy Editor, Mike, is the recipient of most 'cool sh*t'. Ali, as Editor, gets some stuff (not as much as Mike, although he does have a rather nice new Blu-ray player sitting at home...), and as the proud owner of a Shrek The Third royal bum scratcher, among other bits of useless junk, I can't complain either. But today I am the winner in the game of Mail Envy (which is ridiculous. There are no winners in the game of Mail Envy, only losers...). Check out what the post yielded and envy my mail!!

This Transformers-esque piece of coolness is from a company called Terratag. It's kind of an underground label who creates T-shirts, hoodies, that sort of thing. They've got a shop in Brick Lane and for those of you not in London, they've got an online store (click here to check it out). So, Terratag, for the lovely T-shirt, for brightening the afternoon, and for allowing me to score an extra point in the office 'Mail Envy' charts, I thank you.

Interview Guillermo Del Toro By Proxy!

On Thursday we're having a chat with Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro about the new film he's produced, Spanish horror The Orphanage. Del Toro's back catalogue includes director credits for Cronos, The Devil's Backbone, Blade II, Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy, with Hellboy II coming later this year. He's also recently confirmed he'll be directing The Hobbit and The Hobbit II produced by Peter Jackson.

We thought we'd give you the chance to let us know what you want to know - the burning questions you're dying to ask Del Toro. Yep, we want you to do our jobs for us...

Click here to head over to the forum, login, and post your questions. We can't promise we'll ask everything you suggest (we've only got a limited time with him, for a start) but we'll try to take your comments on board.

The interview will appear in the issue on sale on the 26th June.

Caught On The Web - The Happiest Monster

Coming very soon indeed is the first issue of a brand, spanking new look magazine. It's so exciting we can barely contain ourselves. And part of said spank is a new feature - Caught On The Web, where we highlight some of the funniest, silliest, weirdest stuff we've happened across online each month when we really should have been working. Each month we'll put them up on the website just before the magazine appears in the shops for your delight and delectation.

This month they're all monster themed to tie in with the Cloverfield release.

And here's number one: The Happiest Monster. A girl befriends a space monster who lands on earth and takes a trip to his homeworld.

Caught On The Web - Lego Monster Movie

Dracula. The Mummy. Frankenstein's Monster. An army of undead skeletons - in Lego!

Caught On The Web - Bride Of The Space Monster

This Ed Wood-style alien monster movie has better acting and production values than Woods films...

Caught On The Web - Eye Spy

If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise. Unless you were expecting a giant alien eyeball.

Thundercats Are Loose!

Thundercats went all Batman last week to promote the release of its second season on DVD. We missed it but the shots are absolute class. Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats.... HO!

Jesus Is Back... And He's Very Hungry!

It was that time in the morning when you really shouldn’t be in the office any more. Two in the morning. On a Saturday. But we were. Putting together the spangly new-look DVD Review, I might add, out 1 May. Which, despite the best efforts of various malevolent forces that conspired to make us fail, looks ace!

One of the other things we came up with in our clapped-out, frazzled delirium was an idea to make our own movie. Specifically, the kind of movie you would get if you mashed The Passion Of The Christ together with Night Of The Living Dead.

Zombie Jesus.

We really thought Zombie Jesus (or ZOMBIE JEZUS, as Ali insisted it be spelled, in capitals, complete with backwards ‘Z’) was going to be our ticket out of the stupid magazine business. (We were very tired.) It even fitted in with the original story, about a guy who gets nailed to planks of wood for claiming to be the son of God... and then magically comes back to life.

From that outlandish premise, Zombie Jesus and his unstoppable army of undead disciples attempting to take over the world isn't such a stretch. But the Shambling Redeemer hasn't banked on Jake Pilate, the hard-ass, rulebook-disregarding, take-no-crap Guvnor of Jerusalem, who’s going to finish the job he started in time for goddamn Passover. It was going to be brilliant!

Then we discovered someone had beaten us to it...

Oh well – back to the drawing board. Undead Cyborg John Paul II: Vatican Wars – The Musical? It’ll be huge!

Ironman Trailer To Be Trashed?
