Disc Of The Day: Eyes Without A Face

On the slab today we have a nasty bit of old school French horror, and we’re not talking about eating snails. It’s released on DVD on 12 May, courtesy of Second Sight, for £19.99.

The Blurb:

Guilt ridden after recklessly crashing his car and leaving his daughter severely disfigured, celebrated plastic surgeon Dr Gennesier becomes obsessed with restoring her beauty by transplanting a new face onto her mutilated features. Aided by his devoted assistant Louisa, young woman are lured back to his home to become unwitting ‘donors’ in his horrific procedures.

Although too much for many critics of the day to stomach, Franju’s masterpiece is now considered to be one of the greatest, most influential and disturbing horror films ever made.

We Say:

One of the last few genuine cult classics to make its way onto DVD, you can bet we’re putting a happy face on this one. Unless some French loony carves it off and sticks it on his daughter. Jordan will approve…

The Illest, Sickest Release This Year...

Word up - Snoop Dogg's:  Hood of Horror hits DVD on the 21 April.

We're not going to attempt to proceed with the faux-street language at this point because frankly we just can't carry it off. Instead, we'll stick to the facts:

It's an anthology movie, in the style of Tales from the Crypt, with Snoop as a kind of Crypt Keeper ('Crib keeper' the press release insists, but even that makes us feel a bit old and uncomfortable...). He also pops up in each of the three stories as inhabitants of the hood "go from bling to blood." Apparently. Stories follow a graffiti artist who wreaks revenge on street thugs, a spoilt kid who has to live with his father’s army pals before he can inherit a fortune and rapper who must pay for the sins he committed on his way to the top. Snoop is joined by an array of familiar names and faces, including Danny Trejo (Planet Terror), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) with cameos from the likes of Method Man and
Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander. And it's likely to be all kinds of gory.

RRP is £15.99 and extras include a trailer and a Making Of.
