The remake of Day of the Dead is going straight to R1 DVD. Ho hum, doesn't bode well for the latest classic massacre. Still, you never can tell how these things will work out - Zack "300" Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake was rather good, after all. First look are handling the release in the US, out on April the 8th. It stars Ving Rhames and Mena Suvari and several zombies. This trailer's been kicking about on the web for absolutely ages (we're talking years) but in case it hasn't appeared on your radar here it is for your viewing pleasure. It looks... well, decide for yourself. "It's a bad day to be a zombie" is all we're prepared to say. Take that as you will.

It’s awards season and everyone’s getting excited. But at the Director’s Guild of America awards last Saturday, one actress was getting particularly excited – and not because she’d won an award. Sean Young, perhaps best known for her role as Rachael in Blade Runner, had a few too many and starting heckling The Diving Bell and The Butterfly director Julian Schnabel, shouting “get on with it!” during his speech. Schnabel, clearly slightly narked, quickly suggested she “have another cocktail”. Apparently she’s since checked herself into rehab.

DVD Review was fortunate enough to meet the Oscar nominated director a couple of weeks ago (the full interview will appear in a future issue of DVD Review magazine). Despite being somewhat eccentric (the man was wearing purple paint-stained pyjamas as well as the signature yellow shades, for goodness sake) he was a genial, articulate, interesting guy. No heckling from us.
